Birthday Post

WHOA! Okay, so who's a bad blogger?  I'm a bad blogger.  I will try to make up for it by making today's post SUPER!  It seems only fitting that I should tell you all about the birthday card class from last night, as today is my birthday :)

The Pear card was the simplest, but I really enjoy it.  The colours just make it for me.  I may re-use this template for future workshop cards.  We used the water-colour pencils to add the yellow.

The Enjoy card was one of my favourites.  Not only do I love this stamp set, but I am really happy with the way the colour combination turned out.  I also chose to decorate the INSIDE of the card, which is something I seldom do.

The fall flowers envelope-card is one you've seen before, but I just can't get enough of it.  Love it.

I'm calling the bird one "Boho Bird-day".  I really like the colours, and the bird from the "Pun Fun" set is just too cute.  I thinks it makes a nice " masculine birthday card.

Finally, the birthday cake card was probably the brightest of the cards we made.  I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but the girls seemed to really like it.  We used a rub-on on this one, and then punched a little window through it.  We also decorated the inside of this card, making it extra fun.

Stampin' Fun(draiser)!

A few local SU demonstrators (myself included) are hosting a fundraiser for Big Sisters of London.   The fundraiser is taking place at King's College on Saturday, May 24 from 9:30 - 1:00.  In the first half of the session we will be making a scrapbook from the kit provided by SU in support of Big Brothers and Sisters of London.  $2 from the sale of each kit goes to Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada.

We will break for coffee and treats, and in the latter half of the session we will make four cards (we will make the same 2 cards twice).  The cost of the fundraiser is $55, with $5 going directly to Big Sisters of London.  We will also be having a 50/50 draw on the day of.

Let me know if you're interested!

New Blog!

I realize many of you may be thinking, "New blog?  Was there an old blog?"
Yes, there was an old blog.  I started blogging a little over a month ago using a .mac free trial format.  WELL, the free trial is just about up, so I decided it was time to find a free format.  I will keep you posted on the transition.

I decided to spend some time today designing and pre-cutting for my card class coming up on April 28th.  We will be making 5 birthday cards using a number of different tools and techniques.  This should give new stampers an idea of just some of the options available when it comes to stamping.

Tools and techniques we will definitely be using include:
  • punches
  • paper-piercing tool
  • rub-ons
  • die-cuts
I will also be showcasing some designer series papers, favourite stamp sets, different kinds of cardstock, popular colour combinations and a selection of ribbons.

The card in the picture is the one I did today, and I am quite pleased with it.  I have not yet added stamped images to the inside, but that is the next step.  If you think you might be interested in attending this class let me know.  I have three spaces remaining.

I will be doing more stamping this week, between working and writing the FINAL PAPER for the PR program.  The end is in sight, and I can't wait to start my new job!  But that's another post.

Happy stamping!
